Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS)

DDosPing

DDosPing searches a network for the presence of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) agents. The IP Addresses of suspicious hosts are put together in a list. DDosPing is a specialized port scanner, which query those ports that are typically used by the widely-distributed DDoS agents Trinoo, and Tribe Flood.

Using this tool in a foreign network is often seen as an attack, as attackers would scan the same ports.

Mailbombing

When one sends a very high number of emails to one or more e-mail addresses it is called "Mailbombing".
The victim can not receive any new emails anymore, as most server's mailboxes do not receive any new emails once a certain limit has been reached. Most often tedious and superfluous transfer times on the local computer have to be taken into account. An e-mail program, or even the entire computer, can be put out of use.

To start a mailbombing attack one needs a SMTP server (outgoing mail server), which accepts and forwards emails without inspecting them further.

Defense mechanisms:
One should take care to distribute one's e-mail address very cautiously.

With these programs you can:
- Start mailbombing attacks
- Liberate bombed mailboxes

E-mail Control

With E-mail Control you can protect yourself against unwanted emails. The program can already inspect the emails on the mailserver and delete them if necessary. One can define (the deleting) criteria by using the filter function. E-mail Control offers comprehensive assistance when a mailbox is bombed.
